Community Tasting Notes 6

June 22, 2023 - First estate purchased by grandfather and when purchased in the 1960s it was in very poor shape. At the time it wasn't Pessac Leognan but he loved the area and so bought more estates. And because of his love of the region he banded a bunch of other estates together. He also wanted to protect the area with a specific AOC which would stop the city from encroaching on the land. So this is in the neighborhood of the city. They have two styles of terroir, one really gravel soil, then a small river and then clay on the property. Makes two different styles but then they blend them together.

225 L barrel and some 500 L barrel, maybe as some experimentation. The idea being to slightly reduce the oak part. 100% of the wine is fermented in barrel. With some good power and richness there. An opulent character produced in Pessac Leognan and a saltiness on the palate which comes from the Gravel part.

March 21, 2023 - Crushed rocks, lemons, grapefruit, green apples, spice and white flowers create an intense perfume. Rich, fresh, fruit-filled and juicy with a yellow and orange citrus, white peach and green pear, packed finish, with a touch of ginger in the endnote, this is already fabulous in your glass. Drink from 2023-2034.

March 6, 2023 - UGCB tasting Bordeaux 2020 Walkaround tasting so in general just short notes (Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.): Beautifully fresh citrus and beautiful oak in the bouquet. On the palate good citrus and fresh green apple acidity. Beautiful wine. 91+

March 6, 2023 - The 2020 vintage UGCB tasting in Amsterdam 03/06/2023 (Amsterdam): The bouquet is still closed, some wood, some vanilla; the wine is at the moment difficult to assess with a bit hefty acidity, but give it time to soften.

Sehr gute Anlagen. 2024-2034. (April/Mai 2021)
