Community Tasting Notes 1

July 25, 2021 - Chinese Wine Zoom tasting. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Long thick legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of earthy herbal root, blackcurrant with tobacco leaf, and a thin layer of bell pepper. Sense of austerity. Developing.
On the palate, just below off-dry, high acidity, high alcohol (15.5%), very soft plush high tannins, full bodied. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of elegant fruity sweet blackcurrant, ribena blackberry, grilled bell pepper + other herbal undetones. Sweet medium+ finish.
Good quality. Plush Merlot very apparent. "A" for effort. Could be bordering on artificial. Would be interesting to age it a few years and see where it goes.
