March 14, 2022 - Deep, rich, and fresh. Could only be faulted for being faultless.

November 4, 2021 - Ahh...Malbec from Cahors, France known as the historic and spiritual home of Malbec. I've been wanting to try a Malbec from Cahors for years, having tasted Malbecs from Argentina and a few from the Golden State of California. This 2018 Château Lamartine is 90% Malbec and 10% Tannat so it had the possibility of being a tannic monster, a beast of a wine to spit out or hold one's nose, grimace and slug down, but no, this is a polished wine and worth drinking just for the wine experience, putting aside the heritage of being ground zero for the Malbec varietal. Smooth, mid-weight, easy to drink, somewhat muted as in an 'iron fist in a velvet glove', age will undoubtedly make this better, but it's drinking well now. Not very complex, a bit 'hollow' or one dimensional, but I'm not really complaining, more of an observation. Would be welcome with any beef dish, ribs, barbecue, but can be enjoyed alone too. I'll seek out more Malbecs from Cahors: this is a solid introduction.
