December 21, 2023 - Ripe purple color. The nose exudes roasted figs and plum cake tossed together with violets, coffee, toffee, milk and dark chocolate bars. On the palate, I get a smooth, slightly chewy mouthfeel with moderating acidity. Ripe but nuanced flavors of chocolate-covered raisins, fig paste, sweet plum sauce, even some candied orange peel. Notes of sweet coffee, toffee, and violets add a nice kick, and there’s even some nuanced earth tones. That undeniably fun, juicy, ripe, and pleasant ruby style.

November 16, 2023 - Retail $29. From Graham's website: "made primarily of ... Touriga Franca, ...Touriga Nacional, ... Tinta Roriz and ... Tinta Barroca. [C]omponents of Tinta Amarela, Tinta Cão, Souzão and Tinta Francisca." I tasted this last year and I come away with many of the same impressions: a tasty Ruby that is certainly lighter than many of its brethren. Still, this remains true to its long heritage. Excellent.

April 1, 2023 - Deep purple color. Aromas of rich figs and plum cake, mixed with coffee, toffee, milk chocolate, and dried violets, accented by some pleasant earthy tones. The palate shows suave tannins and a chewy feel, sweet but moderated by the acidity. The flavors of sweet plums, raisin cake, fig paste, even some candied orange peel. Sports a lot of pleasantly sweet coffee and dried flowers, nuanced earth and minerals. Fun and value-driven intro Port, but complex and very well made, per usual from Graham’s.

June 2008 (link)(NV Graham Porto Six Grapes Reserve) The reputation of Six Grapes is derived from Graham’s positioning of it as the producer’s most prestigious brand after its Vintage Ports. Because most Port houses tend to place greater emphasis on their LBV bottlings than their Reserve Rubies, the lots selected for Six Grapes are of a higher caliber than for the majority of its rivals. Deep purple and fully opaque. Violets, mocha, and pure grape essence emerge on the nose. It’s a powerful, chewy, dense, well-structured Port, crammed with ripe plum and super-sweet, brambly boysenberry fruit and a gentle touch of chocolate on the finish. A personal favorite of mine within this category, it’s not only delicious, but immediately approachable and a superb value. Fit to Be Fortified
