Community Tasting Notes 5

December 24, 2020 - Uggg, still too young. I had this on August on the amalfi coast 2019 and it was delicious and paired well. But now it’s tasting g young. An alcohol taste which causes a harshness over the flavor. It was brought to room temperature 3 days prior and decanted a few hours before tasting.
Still hunting for that Barolo people from Pediemont cry over.

August 26, 2019 - Finally a Barolo that showed its passion potential. The wine is clear and light in appearance as a Pinot Noir but has a gentle introduction of powerful tannin. Sleek power Clint Eastwood like, not brute power such as a Schwarzenegger.
It was served chilled but very drinkable. The tannins slowly unwound. I believe it would still be unwinding for hours more.
The sommelier states 2014 was a good year. Most Barolo last only 4 years with exception. This is contrary to what I’ve understood and to the information on CellarTracker. So I think his he wrong in a good way.
I believe this vintage of Serra has potential to score 94-96. Time will tell. It’s very good now. I feel it has a long drinking window .

    May 14, 2019 - Grappe Piemonte 3, vin 8:

December 3, 2018 - Somehow I really liked this. Not the easiest year. Initially a bit closed, but very nice structure, dry tannins and long. Perhaps it will close down and not improve. Not sure.

September 28, 2018 - The nose was remarkably pretty with dried florals up front, as hints of spice and minerals lifted from the glass. On the palate, I found lifted-feminine textures, displaying pure red berry fruits, and subtle spice as fine tannin slowly mounted. The finish was dry and structured as cherry tones fought to stay present against drying tannin and ending on resonating floral tones.
