December 6, 2023 - Brett upon opening. Took some time to blow off. I like acid but this was a bit much for me. Only drank half a glass on night 1.

Night 2 much more pleasurable, more in line with others' descriptions. Wonderful dried herbs and dusty fine tannins. Leads me to believe there's some real upside to cellaring for several years.

November 15, 2023 - I feel I'm not quite the target audience. A tn below mentioned it as the hypothetical burgundy/rhone hybrid and that's kind of right, but it just didn't excite me. Had a pretty acidic finish that I didn't dig. Went with eggplant parmesan just fine.

August 26, 2023 - Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Dried herbs give this an almost Brunello-like profile, and in fact the red fruit and modest tannins also point in that direction. There's a little bit of a natty bent to this where you get some off flavours on the backpalate. Not quite mousy, but close...

June 17, 2023 - Lots of pretty red fruit, earthy minerals, dried herbs on the nose, rustic mouthfeel almost like a northern rhone meet burgundy in texture, medium plus acidity , slight austere feel to the fruit on the finish

April 19, 2023 - Light smoke, game, amongst pretty red fruits, lavender. Palate is very nice, light but serious, dried herbs, medium light tannins frame it perfectly, dusty feel. Not a profile I've seen from Mencia before.
