June 20, 2021 - First of five bottles.
The remaining capsule and label only tell me Ropiteau and 1964.
About a 4 cm fill level and cork in reasonably good condition.
Not decanted as unsure of wine's identitiy.
Evolved hue but appropriate for 57 years of age.
The aromas are clean and bright. A nice sweetness to the wine showing excellent ripeness and origins.
Nose dominated by spicy and earthy/iron components. Nice texture with sufficient tannins to hold everything together.
From my experience I would have identified this as a NSG 1er cru but it will probably remain a mystery, as I'm not sure which wines Ropiteau produced from the excellent 1964 vintage.
Will drink remaining bottles over next 5 years.
