March 6, 2024 - Wow. Good fruit, balanced, smooth with lovely tertiary flavors. Very pleasurable but simple. Not complex enough for higher points.

    February 23, 2024 - 1996 Pahlmeyer, Red

Color: Deep Ruby with a solid core and pronounced bricking on the edge.

Nose: Really big nose, aka medium-high intensity, more red fruits than black fruits, dried fruit, some background exotic spices...complex, really nice.

Glass: Full mouthfeel. Full mouthfeel with plenty of fruit still left. Nice mid-palate, very fresh, lingers. Goes down like silk and finishes for a good 45 seconds.

    Score: 96-98

December 5, 2023 - Probably the best Pahlmeyer wine I've ever had - and I've had quite a few
Just starting to turn brickish at the rim
Beautiful nose of black raspberries and black cherries
The palate is seamless with dark fruit that has exceptional focus and intensity. Not a hint of anything other than deliciousness from beginning to finish. The fruit is almost sweet in it's purity.
Our last bottle from the 1996 vintage

June 25, 2023 - tasted blind. superb and intense fruit; frankly powerful. on par or perhaps even better (though surpisingly similar) to the '99 Pavie which was also tasted blind, side by side. This cuvee continues to astonish.
