Community Tasting Notes 5

August 13, 2022 - Pop and pour. Notes from 2hrs open. See previous notes. Perhaps a bit more rustic than I remember, but still very yummy.

April 5, 2020 - <<swoon>> After the Delas hermitage, this was lovely with our roast leg of lamb. On the nose: rustic red and black fruit, vanilla, a touch of bramble, clean and lovely. On the palate, fantastic acidity. more rustic red fruit, herbs and some serious, grainy tannin on the finish.

November 30, 2019 - Opened yesterday, on the counter overnight (so, ~24 hrs open): beautiful rustic nose, earthy red fruit, a suggestion of vanilla, loads of red fruit, mixed with dried red fruit. On the palate, fantastic acidity, crushed cranberry and sour cherry, dense and meaty, with rustic, enveloping tannin on the finish. Yum, but needs ages.

July 13, 2018 - Decanted. This showed as a rather hard 2005, even after decanting. Notes from 30 min open in decanter. Nice nose with loads of candied golden beets, herbs/vegetal notes. On the palate, a touch linear, with red hard candy, good acidity and a touch of minty herbs and lots of Corton rusticity. Finish lengthens with air, but still shows a fair amount of austere drying tannin. Lots of stem inclusion and whole cluster? Seems to need more time, we'll see...

After about 4hrs open, this is much more open..the rusticity has subsided a bit and this shows more generous fruit and is more high toned on the nose and palate. Will revisit tomorrow, but give this plenty of air if you open it now.

Day 2: Ok, so I looked this up and it's about 40% whole cluster. This is fantastic today, and seems to keep getting better with more air. Showing a touch darker today. Going to have to be patient with these...but it seems like patience will be rewarded.

Day 4: In the refrigerator overnight.... and this is just gorgeous. All harsh edges have been rounded out and this just sings...Maybe this will really hit its stride in 5-10 years?
