September 18, 2021 - I didn't read the back label very carefully. I thought it said drink early or within 5. What it really says is, drink early, or wait at least 5 years. Maybe because it is in the window between early and at least 5 years, it was so cheap.

I decanted it. It is a straw colour, and a bit of bottling spritz, that it is worth decanting and waiting a while to dissipate. It has the powerful acidity of classy wine which, as the label says, needs at least 5 years in the cellar. I'm guessing probably rather more than that, to show at its best. It is a bit dumb at the moment. You can get a hint of the spiciness it mentions. As powerful acidities go, its much less searing than many, and so it makes an acceptable food wine for things like seafood, fish, etc, as it is. It's got some body. Though I think we'd get we'd get a lot more out of it if we waited quite a bit longer.

88 is for now. So quite an acceptable tipple, but with a lot more promise.
