Community Tasting Notes 2

April 14, 2019 - My first time had Joguet, if I tasted this totally blind, I might have gussed it is Cheval Blanc in late 80s (or at least would guess cab franc blend from top right bank Bordeaux wines). The Joguets own vinyards between the Loire and Vienne Rivers. Focus on single vineyard expression, Clos du Chene Vert and Clos de la Dioterie are considered their grand cru quality wines, we had the Clos de la Dioterie that night (c.2.2 ha, vines were planted in 1930s, >80-year old vines; aging in 1-3 year old-barrels for 18 months, the vineyard is right next to the winery)
On the nose, it offers wild berries, earthiness, light smoke, minerals, exotic spices and purple flowers, super aromatic, on the palate, it was very silky and smooth with very round texture, acidity was chewy and lingering while there was great structure on the finish, thanks to the layers of (gentle) spices and minerals. Really enjoyed the bottle.

May 16, 2009 - Absolutely stunning wine. Nose of crushed violets and roses; along with red fruit. Bell pepper; tobacco leaf, some green stem without the tannin. Soft, velvety mouth feel, well structured wine showing no signs of age. Mature Obama wine.
