February 19, 2023 - Very interesting. This is a well-made wine, but either the grape varieties or the winemaking technique are very different. When first tasted, the wine is lacking in any discernable fruit. The best I can describe is the taste of earth. Not Rhone dirt, but something different. One Gruner Veltliner from Switzerland I tasted long ago had this same flavor profile. But with food, however, this wine transformed into a wonderful complement. My wife had made pasta alfredo and they paired extremely well. Still lacking in fruit, but very pleasant. I don't believe I have ever had a white the ached so much for food. (Any thoughts from others?)
