June 4, 2023 - Gelbgrün, wunderbar gereift, unerwartet gut. Mineralische und vegetabile Noten, immer noch etwas mürber Apfel und Pfirsich, voller Körper, guter Abgang, dem einzig "hinten heraus" etwas Substanz fehlt.

January 25, 2020 - Halenberg / Chevalier tasting-cum-lunch (Wine Bar 4850, Amsterdam, NL): Direct from the estate. Warm vintage, ripe and rounded, reminiscent of the 2011, lacks a bit of aroma and the typical minerally energy of the vineyard.

Tasted blind. Bottle opened about 2-4h before, double decanted before serving.
Some slight botrytis notes in the muted nose. On the palate ripe pineapple, some botrytis, spices. Creamy, elegant with a good length. Drink now. 91-92 -

December 23, 2018 - Some pronounced it stronger than 2007. Not in this case. Not precise and short in the finish. Honey flavors are dominating. 90-91

8/17/2006 (link)(Emrich-Schonleber Monziger Halenberg Grosses Gewachs) This was lovely albeit a bit young and out of sorts. I have noticed that there is such an incredible wealth of material in 2006 that some of the GG and EG bottlings may benefit from a colder serving temperature than previous vintages. But do not let be detractor from the amazing quality of these wines in 2006, especially in the Nahe, certain sections of the Pfalz and the Rheinhessen. This wine had stunning aromas of slate, minerals, stone fruit skins and air if that makes sense. The palate had a warmth to it but I attribute that to the slightly warmer temperature it was served at. There was still wonderful purity of flavor and immense concentration of fruit and mineral.
