Community Tasting Notes 11

February 22, 2024 - Opened not decanted. I thought I had consumed all 6 bottles as I showed none in inventory. Surprise. One was there on a shelf. Tight and astringent on opening, i.e. rather unpleasant. However I soldiered on. After a hour: dry attack with dark cherry notes; light to medium weight in body; ends with a drying black cherry finish with a touch of heat. Needs about 2 hours of air. Fair to Good. (I’m 99% sure this is the last bottle).

January 8, 2024 - No green steminess in this bottle, this is drinking really clean. Black raspberry, campfire, garrigue, chalk. For $17 paid this is a QPR home run.

September 30, 2023 - Full bodied, but not overly extracted or overrripe. Dark fruited, blackberries, black cherries, black plums, earth, dried herbs. Not very complex, but very enjoyable for $17.

August 24, 2023 - Big musky fruity nose. For a ruby colored wine, this is a big, relatively well balanced (still a bit of extra tannin) with nice fruit and chalk. Wish I had more.

October 3, 2022 - Plum, incense, tart red cherry, garrigue, green stems, cinnamon. 88 pts. is fair if drinking today because of the green steminess, but I'm confident this will achieve 91-92 in 2-4 years. I like the pure fruit and the bitter herbs. The tannins are strong but sneaky, certainly not overpowering. Short term hold.
