June 20, 2011 - I agree with the other recent authors. Very good value Rosso di Montalcino. Semi-strong, more fruitful less power, a very clear and not confusing Sangiovese style and flavour. Will be a very nice wine within the next 1 or 2 years.

January 10, 2010 - This wine was even better the second time around. A great baby Brunello that I opened at a blind tasting. Everyone was convinced it a nebbiolo-based wine -- barolo or barbaresco. The light body but intense flavor is easy to confuse, and Altesino makes their sangiovese in such a traditional style that it doesn't taste like most rossos you can find. But this one, from a great year -- 2004, really shows well and is a great value. I'm definitely ordering more. Drink now or hold for 2-4 years.

July 15, 2009 - One of my favorite producers from one of the best years in recent memory for the region, this wine does not disappoint. Very well integrated after some age and still with structure to last several more years. Nice rich fruit, with ripe strawberries, coffee and dark chocolate notes leading to a long, pleasant finish. This "baby Brunello" is one of the best I have had. Though not as complex, of course, among Rossos, this is a true standout with its complexity and pleasant drinking.
