January 19, 2023 - I bought this for $24 on the recommendation of the wine buyer at a promising, previously undiscovered wine store (Spirited Gourmet, in Belmont, Mass.), and opened it in a state of complete ignorance. I hadn't known that liatiko is a grape variety, I'd never knowingly had a wine from Crete, and had never heard of the producer. So, the first pleasant surprise was the billowing peachy aroma. The next pleasant surprise was the combination of light body and high intensity -- a deep, herbal flavor, with moderate acidity, an almond-pit dryness, and a distinct and alluring aftertaste of plum. With air, the wine progressed rapidly from plum to plum pudding -- I learned after drinking that the grape is usually used for sweet wines -- but the ripeness was never cloying, and more tannins emerged with further aeration. The wine was also eminently drinkable on the second day. Highly recommended, for drinking right away -- a great deal of intrigue and complexity for the price.
