August 8, 2021 - Another underrated Aussie great wine and one to fool mates with. Padthaway Shiraz at its best from Lawson vineyard by Orlando. The mid 90's are drinking superbly and still with many years to go ( 96,97, 98 are stunners). I had one bottle of 1985 in the cellar and keen to see how it drank at 36 years old. And it was excellent. Good colour, vigour, sweet berried nose with some spices and a hint of coffee and sweet glue. rich and dense still in the mouth with long spicy finish. Nowhere near over the hill but not going to improve further. in a perfect window. Continued to drink well over 2 hours. well worth seeking out but very hard to find. Must be well cellared bottles of course. And another great Aussie wine from underrated vintage of 1985. Yummy stuff.
