January 17, 2023 - I guess this is what stereotypical Cayuse is supposed to be. I poured some into the dump bucket because I was sure it was spoiled. But wiser heads prevailed and informed me it was correct in this style. At first I thought it was corked but it definitely was not. It became clear that it instead was massively infected by Brett. Fecal and garbage smell but fortunately tasted better than that. Huge on the palate. By the end of the evening it was one of the few bottles totally drained so popular with the group.

May 6, 2020 - Blood orange. Integrated. Well in its drinking window. Best Cayuse bottle I have had so far. Overwhelmed short ribs with caramized onion. Better to go with spicy meat dishes.

October 13, 2019 - Classic Cayuse, but a bit more red fruit than most, has the funk AND the fruit! Really drinking superbly at age 13, and probably would have scored more than 93 except that last night's SHL was so extraordinarily good. En Cerise is usually my favourite Cayuse bottling, and this bottle did not disappoint.

April 22, 2018 - Classic Cayuse style. Maybe just a touch leaner.

March 7, 2018 - A couple glasses through a coravin...havent checked in on this guy in a while...good opportunity to see how its aged. Let it open in the glass a bit, drank over 45 mins.

Dark, opaque, purple(ish) color. No real separation. Classic Cayuse funk on the nose...showing earth, mushrooms, blood...Palate is dark fruits, game, "blood", tapenade and earth. Medium weight and finish.

This is a serious, brooding wine that is cut from a Northern Rhone style (via Walla Walla). Wine is settled into a nicely aged, elegant place. Some of the earlier edges are gone, soft on the palate. The "funk" makes it unique and interesting, not for everyone. Fans of Northern Rhone will find this in their zone.

PS - Rumor was Christophe Baron called this his most "pornographic" wine ever...not sure how to interpret that
