July 26, 2023 - My tasting flight of five 2020 syrahs, to see how drinkable and enjoyable young syrahs are. 16 tasters, all agreed these were very enjoyable. The Frog had the most pronounced and distinctive aromas, typical smoke and roasted meat, already some complexity. My favorite compared with SQN Distenta II, Liminal Block 16, a Crozes Hermitage, and Mollydooker Boxer (Molly and SQN were the group's favorites). This bottle was outstanding, loads of concentrated fruit, long aftertaste, and remarkably drinkable for such a young wine. I would not expect the same from a 2020 American cabernet or Bordeaux.
