Community Tasting Notes 2

October 2, 2022 - This particular bottle was probably at the very end of its drinking time. It had lost its sparkle, burnt edges and copper hues, which is to be expected of a wine this age for sure.

Strong caramel, marmalade, dusty gravel notes. The smell of earth after rain, dried fruit, hints of brandy and touches of cedar.

A lot of these notes carried through on the palate, the caramel, marmalade, brandy especially. Very light, touches of almond and apricot kernel, and surprising bit of pink peppercorn.

For its age it still had some nice body. It was a quick finish, with some lingering alcohol, tobacco, molasses.

On the whole an interesting and enjoyable drink, but I generally prefer vintages that aren't quite this old.

October 8, 2021 - At first I found this to be very simple, and while that never really changed still it turned into a really nice good-value-everyday-red with one day in the fridge. Dark fruit, cedar, tobacco, dusty sandy minerality and a hint of earthy root vegetables.
