April 28, 2024 - Already drinking well (with a 3 hour decant) at this young stage. Elegant florals and red fruit on the nose, very civilized. Tangy red cherry and pomegranate fruit, perfectly ripe and suffused with dusty, chalky minerals that reminds me of Bedrock, but with a more slender frame. Tons of depth. Not a huge amount of herbaceousness, and only a little bit iron inflected. Finish is long, clean, and with a subtle build up of chalky tannins. Not for those who want massive wildness in their Syrah but a really approachable and refined style.

July 26, 2023 - Nose of dark fruit with hard candy notes, raw meat, and rustic dried herbs. Deep, dark black plum fruit with smoked ham, bacon fat, and loads of white pepper all delivered on a thick, viscous palate. Rock and earth start the finish, riding over lighter plum and dark cherry fruit, dried thyme and oregano, all mixed with thick chewy tannins. Good now but a year or two might help.

October 24, 2022 - A cool climate classic. Lots of pepper and red fruit, with an espresso finish.

January 26, 2022 - Big, complex nose right away with dark fruits, baking spice and smoke. Great flavor and body and acidity crept up a little as night 1 went on. Very good start. Very nice night 2 as well. Nose was a bit muted but Bacony smoky flavor added and body holding up great. Awesome wine, best I’ve had in awhile

January 22, 2022 - 4.5 hour decant. Loads of dark berry fruit, olive tapenade, earth, but also a brightness of the berry on the side of the tongue creating a wonderful juxtaposition in the mouth. I said recently that I though this was my favorite rendition of Shake Ridge out there, and this bottle reaffirms that claim.
