February 27, 2022 - Decanted for 10 hours. Started to show signs of life around 8 hours but still not giving all it has to offer. Beautiful brickish translucent color. Slightly more extracted than others. Quite classic leather and rose petal nose but there is a linear aspect of wet rock, maybe limestone, that shines through. More reserved than I would expect. However, I think this wine just needs loads and loads of air to open up (or more time in the bottle, of course). A little hint of cherry fun dip. The palate is absolutely explosive. Tannins are laser-focused on the tongue. 60+ seconds finish. Bitter chocolate remains on the palate. Tannins high and acid high.
I personally find that at its current state, the nose is a bit lackluster while the palate is incredibly interesting and quite robust. Potentially, with time, this nose may become less reserved. Drinking Barolo without at least 10 years of age is always a risk. Too bad this is my only bottle.1 person found this helpful Comment
