October 16, 2022 - Pristine bottle, purchased in 2010 from the Dutch importer. Not decanted, opened three hours in advance. A lot more easy-going than the bottle tasted in February 2021, cool and elegant terroir expression, chalky energy, crushed raspberries, flowers and a lovely hint of Asian spices, fresh and lively, firm but gentle tannins, long finish with hints of eucalyptus and cold tea. Mature, but will go on. Nothing extravagant, but a lovely Beaux Monts.

February 13, 2021 - Darkish hue. Fruit is quite dark & dense, tasted younger than its age. Good material on the dark fruit spectrum with some florals for complexity. Modest length. But overall seem a bit disjointed, thou not unenjoyable to imbibe.

February 13, 2021 - Pristine bottle, purchased in 2010 from the Dutch importer. Straight from the bottle the tannins were pretty sticky, so I decanted for four hours and it suited the wine well. Aromatically it is halfway between its primary freshness and its tertiary development, the aromatics are not spectacular but typical, the core is cool and minerally, and the tannins are well integrated. The finish is tea-like. Solid, but a good rather than great Beaux Monts.

September 8, 2020 - Consistent with the previous comments, this wine needs time to aerate. For my taste, it drinks much better on Day 2 after being refrigerated overnite. Next day with 2/3 of the bottle left, I find a better balance of acidity and tannins with cassis, red fruits and, of course, vosne spice. Quite lovely!

March 14, 2020 - On a slippery slope downhill (!) Volatile, too little sulphur

Burgundy-Report

(Rion Daniel Vosne-Romanée Les Beaumonts) Medium-plus cherry-red colour. Initially a nose of deep, soft and sweet medium-toast oak and a little peppery dark fruit, time bestows more caramel and red fruit. Mouthfilling and concentrated yet remaining athletic rather than fat, the tannins are buried beneath the fruit. The mid-palate is expanded in the mouth by lush acidity. Finally it’s a very low-key, but long finish. Here is a 2005 that is not yet guarding its wares. An out-and-out bargain at the en-primeur purchase price of 43 Swiss francs per, that’s 26 Euros. Who says there is no value in Burgundy?
