February 21, 2020 - A brick-red haze hung in the air as Christophe enters the library of rich, leather-bound books & notices the scent of a freshly fired gun and the vase of bearded iris & sage. The pie-cherry fruit is dark & brooding, and while balanced & well-integrated, refuses to reveal the secrets of recent events.

July 29, 2019 - Decanted 1 hour. Great funk on the nose. Somewhat flat at first, sitting in the decanter for an hour woke this one up nicely. Great black fruit, Rocks Funk, tar, earth and chocolate flavors. Just kept getting better as the night wore on. Drink now - 2026.

March 3, 2019 - Drank with grilled filet mignon. Really nice combo of fruit along with some barnyard hints to it.

March 31, 2018 - Very chocolatey, almost like a milkshake. There are some savory notes, but there is a strong sweetness to this wine – chocolate, red fruits. There are hints of acidity, but not very much. No noticeable tannins. In other words there seems to be little structure here. This just confirms my lesser opinion of Cayuse bdx blends (with a few exceptions). Maybe in five years or ten this will surprise me, but I sort of doubt it.

January 13, 2018 - Tasted the 2006 WM alongside the 2007. Both after a 2.5 hour decant. The wines differentiated themselves over time, reinforcing the need for a long decant. Enjoyed both wines immensely.
The 2006 started out somewhat hot. Aromas of Cayuse funk, cedar cuttings, tobacco, stone, slight dark fruit and vanilla. Initially challenged the palate to locate much fruit; mostly cedar tinge, with vanilla and burnt sugar. The wine evolved over time allowing the dark fruit to come forward and highlighted prune/plum, providing sweetness over time on the finish..
The 2007 began with and maintained brighter fruit than the 2006. Similar aromas than the 2006, absent the heat and burnt sugar of the 2006 and added more chocolate notes than vanilla. Chocolate was also more prominent on the palate, as well as raspberry/cherry fruit and vanilla. The funk was barely perceptible. Could not resolve the debate of which wine paired best with a beautifully prepared classic pot roast.1 person found this helpful Comment
