February 9, 2023 - Nose: Black cherry, cassis, rusty nail, pencil shavings. Still a little closed.
Palate: Medium/medium+ body, medium+ tannin, medium acid. Fruit profile somewhat brambly - restrained, but pleasantly ripe sailing into the medium length finish.
Overall this is a very nice Cabernet - middle of the road in style, and seems to be improving rapidly with air (this note is after sitting in glass 90 minutes).
In typical DN fashion, when considering the Tranche 1 price, the QPR is very high here.3 people found this helpful Comment -

October 21, 2021 - Wife and I had very divided opinions on this, she was much more a fan than I was.
Nose has some rustiness, black raspberry, cherry, touch of baking spice and some earth. You don’t get a ton of fruit here, though the nose is nice overall. Palate is very tart cherry dominated, puckers ya a bit on the finish. Some notes of red cassis, some forest floor, and maybe a touch of açaí.
This is pretty acidic, which I usually like in a cab but it doesn’t feel very integrated. Tannins a bit bitter and not overly integrated either. I generally find DN a good value but this definitely doesn’t drink like a $50-60 bottle right now, perhaps it just needs to lay down for a bit.3 people found this helpful Comment
