Decanted for about an hour. Dark garnet in color. Nose of dried and fresh currants, blackberries, a bit of strawberry, mild oak spices, with freshly cut cedar and pine. Medium bodied, medium high acid, dry, and well balanced. Palate is split between dried and fresh fruits – black currants, blackberries, and cherries supported by dried flowers, and cigar box. Think somewhere between an Oregon Pinot and an aged RRV Zin. Tannins are a bit sharp and don’t bring much to the party. Medium length finish of fresh cedar, star anise, perfume, fresh tobacco leaf, currant, and spices.

I get the feeling this one might benefit from some time away in the cellar. The very fresh oak profile is at odds with the dried fruit profile that has developed.
