March 27, 2015 - Friday Lunch Offline (John's House, Mpls, MN): Very dark red purple color. Double decanted for about 25 minutes. Drank 2 pours over 3 hours. There is still a very nice nose here, plenty of fruit remaining with blackberry and plum, earth, and anise. This still took about 30 minutes to fully emerge and was getting better through at least the first 2 hours. The palate shows its maturity, but there is still plenty of nice black and blue fruit here, not as lush as in its youth but very pretty, also showing cherry, blackberry liqueur, spices, and nice tannins that meld nicely into a long finish. This wine has certainly stood the test of time, and while I think it could hold up a bit longer, I think it has passed its zenith. A great way to send it off. 92+ to 93pts. My and group WOTN.

March 27, 2015 - Excellent with cherry, spices, blueberries and wood. Medium plus finish. Excellent wine and end of era. Thanks Kevin.

October 2, 2014 - The nose is a nice complex profile of cedar, tobacco and garrigue. The taste is a bit thin, not interesting initially, and a spicy finish. This opened up with time. Baking spice, a little blueberry.

September 27, 2014 - Mpls Wine Club Napa Blind tasting with cabs, merlot and chard (Rocknroller's (Kevin & Vicki's Place)): Very dark red color. Decanted 1.5hrs, drank 1 glass over an hour. Needed a bit coaxing despite the decant, but really blossomed over 15 minutes. Great noce with dry earth, dried herbs, dusty earth, blueberry, raspberry. The palate is elegant and silky, well integrated, blue, black, and red fruits, nice wood elements, spice, and a long finish. Maybe just past peak, but should drink well for 2 years or so. No contest vs. the Foley 2009 blind and not any question which was which.

September 27, 2014 - Another strong showing and easily defeated the 2009 Foley Merlot in a blind tasting. Earth, spice, red currants, cherry and toasted oak. Got better in the glass over 20 minutes. Should drink well for a few years but decant 1.5 hours and enjoy now.
