October 10, 2009 - Unfiltered. medium cranberry red. Forest floor and raisin on the nose. Very high acidity/sour on the palette. Tart cherry notes. Nothing very balanced in this bottle. Must be taken with food.

Day 2: Substantially changed wine. Gorgeous nose of leather and brandied fruit. Dusty tart/sweet cherry on the palette.

Advice: Open and decant for 12-24 hours.

January 18, 2009 - At first not very impressive, thin in both body and color and not offering much except on the nose. Tasted again an hour or two later (the wine had been in the re-corked bottle). Much better. Color darkened significantly to an inky purple. Dusty cherry licorice on the nose, tart cherries on the palate with good, balanced acidity. Mild, grainy tannins. Medium finish. Still a lighter wine, but it has some character (unlike when I tasted it immediately after opening). Still drinking well on the second day. Upon first taste I'd say 84. After it opened up, I give it 87+.
