May 4, 2024 - Decided to revisit and drink it next to the 2019 La Pelle Red Hen cab to see how they compare. Similar thoughts as a couple weeks ago. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and solid depth/concentration. Nice vibrant flavors. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep - again I believe the finish will benefit from some more time. Slow ox during the day for around ten hours. Both were quite enjoyable but the Alluvium was a little better in every aspect - purer, a little more depth/concentration, etc.. Once again, no surprise of the 98 rating from Dunnuck. According to Dunnuck, give it four to five years from release which I can’t argue to let it open-up some more but I enjoyed this bottle with a lengthy slow-ox.

Revisited on day two and it improved - picked-up weight and complexity. Quite impressive. Another year or two as recommended by Dunnuck makes sense in light of how it showed on the second day. 96 day one and 97 day two.

April 14, 2024 - The nose of this wine is enticing - I could tell that I was in for a treat. Dark ruby fruit - currants, dark cherry, and blackberry. Smooth mid-palate with a nice purity and decent depth/concentration - medium/medium plus body. Nice rich/vibrant flavors of cassis, some spice/herbs, a little black tea, and a mineral/graphite component. Decent finish but not overly long nor deep - I believe the finish will benefit from some more time. Slow ox during the day for around ten hours and drank out of a decanter for a couple more. Improved a little with time. In my opinion, quite a step-up from their entry level cab - although I’ve only had the 2016 and 2021 vintages. No surprise of the 95 rating from WA and 98 rating from Dunnuck. Also no surprise that the vineyard sits next to Dr. Crane on the western side of Saint Helena. 100% cab.

November 22, 2023 - My second wine of the night with our guests, my first ever of this vineyard. Same 3.5 hour decant as the BCellars and it was singing pretty good at that point. Dark red/black fruit and while the nose and taste profile were a bit muted early on, the texture and structure of the wine is what carried it through the evening. Soft and rich velour fruit and the wine was pretty seamless and well-integrated over 3-5 hours with only a tad of powdery tannins remaining on the back end. I toyed with giving this one a 96 but when tasted against the '18 BCellars LPV, I felt the BCellars was a good 2 points ahead. On its own, I may have graded this one higher. If you have these they are quite good and they will keep for many more years. Lucky you!

November 22, 2023 - Three and a half hour decant. Opaque purplish magenta color. Blackberry, plum, violet, toffee espresso, and anise. Dry, full bodied palate, with fine acidity. Firm, yet powdery tannins on the long finish.

This is serious. Should continue to improve, but already quite wonderful. Second bottle of a very long, Thanksgiving weekend with Mark1NPT and our lady friends.
