December 6, 2023 - Pronounced nose of iron, red cherry, licorice, balsamic, earth, dried fruit. Very ripe on the attack with a sweet fruit profile. Fruit seems a little out of balance and disconnected from the acid & structure. Almost like fruit juice. Hmmm - on first showing I'm not a fan of this but will try again.

July 31, 2023 - Medium-deep bright garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, spices, herbs, leather, tar & minerals. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, mulberries & pomegranate with herbs, spices & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & extended airing & should develop further with additional aging.

April 8, 2023 - Suffered from the comparison with more mature bottles at the lunch but taken on its own this is a crisp fresh red fruited Barolo with grippy tannins and a decent long finish.

March 19, 2023 - In nose full fruit, vanilla, some spice. Very soft on the palate, already extremely fine and for a Barolo not very noticeable tannin. This makes the wine more about its prominent fruit of red berries with delicate vanilla and noticeable sweetness and less about its structure. Very harmonious and full, somewhat simple, but delicious.

December 17, 2022 - Remembering the spectacular 2015, this is in the same style, though something is missing and it might be time. Porro doesn't overdo his wines with oak like many modern Barolo producers. That said, there is a touch of sweetness that underlies this particular "Vigna" bottling. I cannot speak for the rest of Porro's wines. Respect to him for making a quality bottle. I would never dare open a Barolo this young, yet the 2018 Lazzairasco is drinkable even now.
