March 25, 2021 - Every bottle is different and unique, especially at this age. But this was barely hanging on to life with only a wisp of fruit remaining. I imagine this was fabulous 2 decades ago.

April 5, 2016 - What a treat to have this again. This showed remarkable consistency with the bottle Josh opened last year - some really ripe porty, cherry liqueur, and faintly figgy flavours on the nose with lots of ripe red fruit and more mature earthy notes beneath, still showing surprising power and intensity of flavour for its age.

May 16, 2015 - Stellar Night of Bordeaux; 5/15/2015-5/17/2015 (NYC): Fun to try a '47. The nose was a little over the hill and a bit raisiny, but the palate was still alive showing lots of cinnamon and bright red fruits.

May 16, 2015 - Old Bordeaux with Patrick back in town (Fabio's, NYC): My first time drinking a '47 - this is a treat. Astonishingly ripe, potent aromatics showing lots of ripe red fruits, cherry liqueur, sweet floral and tobacco elements, and a faint porty, VA-like note. In contrast to the nose, the palate feels amazingly delicate and graceful, with lots of bright red and dark fruited flavours up front that turn more savoury and earthy on the back end, while not showing that liqueur/port-like character the nose suggests. There's remarkable acidity here that keeps it very light on its feet, and it finishes with good length. What an experience - thanks Josh.

July 18, 2014 - What a treat. This had some surprising richness left in it. Dark fruit, sweet tobacco, hints of licorice. Thanks, Josh. Friday night at Sarah's apartment.
