Community Tasting Notes 4

January 23, 2024 - This was absolutely delightful. *So* aromatic - red cherry, wild raspberry, violet, and then light and transparent on the palate with those firm tannins at the end. Exactly my type of light red wine. Enjoyed it way more than last night's much-trumpeted chianti.

August 20, 2022 - Nebbiolo Madness Tasting (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Meaty and savoury, tiny wood glue note, slight rocky minerality, muted red fruit. Juicy tending to medium plus intensity acidity, alcohol warmth, plentiful drying, grainy, grippy but integrated tannins. Kind of yum.

July 8, 2022 - Interesting garnet colored in the glass for a young wine, bit of brick at the edges, moderately aromatic nose of red fruits and floral notes, palate is dry and light bodied, dried cherry, red currant, bit of bramble berry, pencil shavings, baking spice, earth, tannins are surprisingly soft for a young Alpine wine, finish is medium, nice.

Had a debate if this bottle may have been a bit oxidized or just still young and coming into itself.

June 13, 2022 - Eck & Maurick 20th Anniversary Tasting (Caffè Toscanini, Amsterdam, NL): Made from 100% Nebbiolo, sandy soils, 30 day maceration, 12 months in large barrels. Elegant and light in style, good fruit, gentle tannins, pure and fresh, floral lift, good length.
