August 17, 2019 - Brickhouse Study (chicago, IL): Nose: The nose is richer with dark red cherries, plums, dark red berries, violets, currants, and licorice tones. There is a bit of heat to the nose with an extra richness to the tones that was a little out of balance.

Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with medium acidity and stiff, medium tannins. The feel is on the richer side with dark red cherries, plums, dark red berries, currants, and licorice tones with some alcohol sting.

Overall: This shows off a darker side to the fruit with a bit of heat.

August 17, 2019 - Brick House Survey (1995-2015): Herb-filled black and red cherry fruit on the aromatic and appealing nose. Velvety rich fruit with succulent acidity. Med+ concentration and length. Very, very good. And in the top few wines of the day.

August 17, 2019 - Brick House survey (Chicago, IL): A fairly intense wine, with a lovely mix of red and black fruit here. There's a bit of a raspberry/blackberry thing in this wine, with just a touch of sweetness from the fruit. There's a mild dusty quality that also adds a good amount of complexity.

June 25, 2014 - Very vintage-y: lush, ripe flavors bordering on raisin. I enjoyed the rich nose - dark fruit, earth, and some floral notes - more than the palate, which was highly reflective of the warm vintage. Not a bad wine, but stylistically not my thing.

April 29, 2014 - Off-kilter and awkward right now. Fruit borders on stewiness and there is some heat, both representative of the vintage. Something else is going on with this, though, it seems, because other '06 BH wines have been more "vintage-neutral". This is youthful enough that it may be a simple question of timing; try again in late 2016 to see......
