June 17, 2014 - Good aged Syrah. Very tasty with some complexity. Unfortunately drank it with quesadilla and chicken nuggets with barbeque sauce, which evidently was not an ideal pairing.

December 16, 2012 - See my notes from a week ago. Incredible aged syrah.

December 5, 2012 - Purchased this wine at auction as an experiment. I usually do not purchase older wines at auction because of provenance questions. The last note I found on this wine was '08. Plus the price was really low. So my expectations were low.

Wow! what a wonderful surprise and a delicious aged Syrah. When I pulled the cork it was like new. the color is inky garnet. The nose is subtle but exhibits graphite, black cherry, pepper spice and even a bit of floral. On the palate the wine ia an explosion of dark fruits, earth, spice and cassiss. Everything is beautifully integrated and in balance. The finish lingers and begs for the next sip.

What to hear something even more amazing, on day two this wine improved a point or two.

This bottle was a real eyeopener and a lesson to me to be more patient with my stash of Syrah. I am anxious to see if the other bottle I have lives up to this amazing bottle.
