December 1, 2022 - Bruno Giacosa Current Release Tasting (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Walkaround tasting. Bright red cherry throughout, starting out with subtle spice and more robust floral notes. Not the most dense version of this wine, but I expect this will put on weight. While it seems just moderately concentrated, it is already showing good length, with charming fruit just behind pronounced, yet silky tannins. From 2029 or much later, very good potential.

November 3, 2022 - Lay & Wheeler Italy Growers' Tasting: Brief notes: Very pale. Lovely aromatics - cherry fruits and a nice floral lift. Lovely tension on the palate, there's a brooding power, dense fruits and really structural tannins, but also this lifted layer of florals over the top.

June 30, 2022 - Holy crap Batman this is an incredible knockout wine and H2H with the Giacosa Bruno Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche Riserva 2016 was a match made in wine heaven (that’s where I feel the sediment goes we don’t end up drinking).
While of course this needs more time, it is already a BMF of delight. Best Barbaresco I have ever had. Dark cherry, great tannins, good acidity, Unami, forest floor, damp earth, and a wonderful finish. This is a marvelous wine with incredible aging potential and has made me a Barbaresco boy band fan. And apparently for those uneducated in the art of Italian Badassry top end Barbaresco is not a step child to Barolo and was the leader for many years in the long history of wine supremacy. Want a crude comparison of reading and have not had a wine like this? Here goes (I am already wincing and haven’t even thought through this pour descriptor) but take your favorite super high-end Napa Cabernet (not Bordeaux) and turn it into a Grenache/Zinfandel-ish (not your Rombauer or syrupy mega purple with residual sugar college Boones Farms pass out in your own vomit) experience (or take a SQN beef it up and mix it with a high end Napa Cabernet). That is so horrible and as I write this CT sent out a site wide band from usage and the Piedmont wineries have canceled the rest of my visits. I am embarrassed for myself.3 people found this helpful Comment
