Community Tasting Notes 5

February 18, 2024 - Early life for this wine, so preliminary notes/ rating at this stage. First bottle opened from a case and I'll leave the rest several years before approaching. It is dark and has depth to match. Tannins are fine, quite lush I thought, but a little forward at this stage. Bramble fruits and violets very present with a reasonable length on the finish. I didn't get a lot of savoury, and suspect the wine will need quite a bit of time before that shows. I think this wine will reward patience... 5-10+ years?

January 31, 2024 - This pours extremely dark; looks like a Napa cabernet as it hits the glass. It has some lactic things going on, a bit of blueberry yogurt aromatics. The palate too shows some extraction and youth, with blackberry pie and bracing acidity. Dense tannins are present as well. While this is hardly recognizable as burgundy, it is rather tasty and will surely calm down in a few years time, and could even turn into something really cool. I assume it is largely a product of vintage, as I thought the 18 was well managed.

December 3, 2023 - I really liked this wine. Nice acidity, very enveloping dark fruit, and that earthiness that I love about Lummp's wines. I would say this was more concentrated than some other vintages I've had but not overly boozy. I suspect the 14.5% is inaccurate and more for tariff reasons. Will try the next bottle in 5-7yrs.

September 22, 2023 - Was excited to try this as i hear its hard to come by. Heavily extracted, creamy texture, not offering much in terms of complexity or finesse, perhaps it needs more time in the bottle.

July 18, 2023 - PnP. ABV 14.5%. €36.67 before taxes and shipping charges. Very dark in color, almost dark purple. Clean nose, mostly flowers and spices with sweet tones to it. No hints of alcohol on the nose despite the seemingly high ABV level. High acidity, spicy tannins, dry with heat at finish. Better on the nose than on the palate. I suspect when primary fruits recede, alcohol will be even more noticeable. Struggling to finish the first glass, it’s an alcoholic mess. Maybe the alcohol level is higher than stated. To save my liver, I throw away 1/2 glass. My first experience with this producer and it’s rather disappointing. Buy more? Nope!
