January 30, 2019 - Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage vertical (Singapore): Burgundy. The mid palate was acidic but there was also good fruit to stuff it, aromatic finish. Overall not fully balance. If you own this, make sure you eat a fatty dish.

February 10, 2018 - Alvin Blind. Best Chave I've had by far, better than 1990. Entire table thought this was Rayas. Very floral, sweet aromatics. Brilliantly fresh, clean and balanced wine. A holy shut wine.

August 31, 2017 - SLDS September 2017: Meaty bacon, licorice, plenty of pepper and earth. Palate is pleasant, nicely savoury with some acidity pushing things through, it is not especially deep though. Definitely shows the Chave stamp but I'm sure there are better bottles of this out there.

June 22, 2016 - It was not as good as the last bottle I had, showing some nutty aldehyde notes. It had some spruce and pine needle sap along with simmering beef stock and mirepoix. It was sweet and full in the mouth with quite a bit of meatiness.

October 4, 2014 - Medium garnet color, heavy sedimentation. Nose of tar, leather, cranberry, garrigue, hints of coconut (!) and the receding end of a horse. On arrival, soft tannin and medium acidity. The gentle sauvage lash of VA pushes forth what little remains from the vineyards' fruit, and of the effects of long age: smoked meat, red fruits, apple cider. Finishes OK. Disappointing perhaps in terms of bottle age, producer reputation, scarcity and thirty years of anticipation, nonetheless this is wine worth the the time to savor for its typicite alone. Bottle #3 of three.
