March 24, 2023 - Bottle breathe for 45 min. Seductive nose with some fruit, and full body. The palate is however rather mature with subtle fruit remained, with fully integrated tannin. Quite strong still. Medium finishing. It went downhill after 1 hour. I would try to shorten the breathing time next time.

September 3, 2018 - Beautiful and elegant. Magnum. A bit over the hill but still drinking well.

September 26, 2014 - Far better than my previous bottle: still plenty of mature dark cherry, balanced nicely with savoury cooking herbs, leather, wood spice, and a hint of beetroot. Fully resolved tannins, and still vibrant acidity.

February 8, 2014 - Pungent nose of ripe cherry and strawberry, tobacco leaf, leather and prunes. Fairly light body but good concentration of ripe, sour cherry, leather, earth and spice. Good acidity. The finish is medium length, with some tannic bite and lingering sour cherry notes. This wasn't a stellar Burgundy vintage, and especially not a great year for the Baby Jesus. It's drinking well, and is still an enjoyable, interesting bottle. But it's on its decline and is not going to improve any further.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus) The nose is reasonably fresh and quite wide. In this company the palate is very fresh yet still appears balanced. The fruit is tight yet ripe, but is wrapped in fine tannin that adheres to your teeth - they seem ripe enough. This is the youngest wine I’ve yet come across in this series of ’97’s, I would not hesitate in saying leave these for another 5 years. Seems to have real potential.

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Grèves Vigne de L'Enfant Jesus) Ripe berry nose; big, fruity, tasty but not complex, with lime acidity; medium finish

(Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jésus) A waft of oak is followed by smoke, then in succession, violets, strawberry and redcurrant confiture, ending with caramel and faint vanilla, so many layers - excellent. The palate has excellent density of primarily red fruits, lovely acidity but a very astringent finish. This improves with a minimum 2 hours in a decanter. Too young, but super potential.
