Community Tasting Notes 3

December 18, 2020 - The velvety smoothness of this wine continues. Six years have passed since I last tasted this wine. Over the years, it has done nothing but continue to evolve and improve from an already stunning wine into something even more. The color of cranberry at its core, the nose then thrusts black olives, smoke, plum and blackberry in the controlled, surprisingly unexpected way - like a dancer making an unexpected gyration following a beguiling slow and deceivingly casual manner; you suddenly realize you’ve been caught off guard. The palate tracks the bouquet but ends with a touch of saline on the finish and a round mouthfeel. A fair amount of sediment. 13% alc. With assorted blue cheeses and crusty bread from Reunion. 12.18.20. Recommended, but leaning toward Highly Recommended.

December 16, 2019 - Not certain when we pulled this and no food pariing noted, but I do recall we enjoyed its black olive notes

June 21, 2014 - My lands what an understated wine! This is not a rustic or coarse Cotes du Rhone. Instead, this is velvety smooth with a rich bouquet of garrigue, lavender and pepper which the palate mimics precisely. Beautifully balanced and ready to drink now, but given the acidic backbone of this wine, I suspect it has staying power to keep this in play for several years to come. No sediment ... so far. Completely clean. 13% alc. With grilled sausages (sweet Italian and andouille) over polenta. Recommended.
