Community Tasting Notes 10

March 31, 2024 - The 2029 iteration of St. Francis' Cabernet Sauvignon is a deep ruby blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 3% Petit Verdot, sourced from four different sub-AVAs within Sonoma County. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (20% new), it offers aromas and flavors of black currants, dark plums, allspice, tobacco and vanilla. Medium-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.8%), it buttresses its flavors with sweet tannins and a judicious amount of toasted oak. Solid in the middle and medium in length on the back end, this is an easy-drinking Cab that paired well with the Easter prime rib. Popped, poured and served to those gathered, it was well received. My glass was serially tasted over two hours and showed best after 90 minutes of air. Drink now-2029.

March 24, 2024 - Dark fruit aromatics, palate dominated by spicy black currants and plums. A bit hot from high alcohol above 70F and 48 hours open and enjoyed it more at cellar temperature to about 65F. But a decent match for beef and chocolate. I would buy it for those who like upfront fruit and soft tannins.

October 9, 2023 - Purchased from restaurant wine list, this cab was a bit innocuous, with soft smooth tannins, simple fruit and a short finish, just a bit to boring for my expectations.

September 17, 2023 - Pretty good Cab at the price point. The higher alcohol makes it a little sharp. Deep color, dark fruit taste, dry finish
