Tim Heaton Likes this wine:
August 2, 2023 - Very good - but it needed to unfold before it revealed its full self. I didn't really care for this in the first 30-45 minutes, as I found it a bit foursquare, too fruity, and lacking structure. That all changed, and continued to change at the one hour open mark, when the acidity really took control of the conversation and the zeal of the youthful fruit relaxed and moved more in balance and harmony. In the end, I really appreciated the wine, and its craftsmanship. Tasted side-by-side with the 2020 Ca di Press Langhe Nebbiolo, the latter was my preferred wine in the first 30 minutes, though by the final sip, that preference had completely reversed. Lovely wine, and easily highly recommended. A good future here; with this bottling, and the producer.

June 8, 2023 - Red fruited on the nose. Medium to medium full bodied, quite coarse tannins (reminds me of Serralunga), very pure fruit, and a little earthy grip on the finish. My second encounter, also from Conterno Sensory.

December 16, 2022 - First from a case. Translucent and very deep garnet in appearance. Nose reveals red fruits and wild herbs (raspberries, cranberries, and cherries). Light to medium bodied with seemingly gentle tannins which after several sips become noticeable cloying and potentially teeth staining(!) which for a young wine is a good sign! The Langhe Nebbiolo is best characterised by the purity of its fruit (v savoury medley of red fruits mentioned before) whilst there is a bit of earthy grip and a little bite on the finish. Fine to drink now at the dinner table with hearty cuisine, but surely would benefit from another few years to round out. From Conterno Sensory.

December 15, 2022 - This very satisfactorily pulls off the magic trick of being both quite full of flavor and yet structurally very forgiving for nebbiolo. Lives on its acid more than its tannin. Fairly full color. The label mentions Serralunga but I understand the winery to be in La Morra. Very good indeed. For early drinking. Expensive.

November 28, 2022 - Mid ruby. Floral, herbs & red berry aromas. Started off quite light bodied but filled out over the evening. Linear red fruit palate, bit of licorice and salinity. Fresh acidity, fine integrated tannins. Med length, mouth drying finish. Not especially complex but very enjoyable.
I look forward to seeing more from this young producer.
