May 19, 2023 - We have been lucky to have recently tried a few of their wines with a decent amount of age ( Including the Antigone 2004 , Papies 93 and for many one of the best wines ever made in Greece ( we disagree the Dalamaras VV 2017 is as is Karamolengos Assyrtiko Papas 2016 ) ) and indeed these are special wines .
Thank you www.griechenland-weine.de four sourcing this.

The wine is actually very bright and full of energy and felt like it had a lot more to give and a long to go before one could argue is at peak . Dark fruit , Haley, soft earth, more merlot on the nose and palate than a cab sauv we felt , bright tannin, herbs and good use of oak. Proper well made and flies the flag. 91-92 and a great find .

    January 13, 2023 - Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend from Crete—

    Open for four days—

Very enjoyable wine, but ultimately I think now may be an inopportune time to drink. On the plus side, the wine is as previous tasters have described: bright, prickly, leafy fruit—sometimes red, sometimes black—on the nose; good tertiary qualities—cigar box, leather, wet forest floor, and a little meatiness here and there. The palate feels a little less dynamic, however. There is an initial perception of fruit—again, very bright and tart blackberries, plums, and raspberries—but that perception is curtailed somewhat by pretty substantial tannins. When the tannins fade, the fruit is still there, leading me to believe this will get better.

    I second the Musar comparison.

September 29, 2022 - Popped and poured. This pours light ruby in the glass. The nose is immediately expressive and complex showing ripe plum, cassis, cedar, bay leaf, a kiss of charred new oak via dark chocolate and coffee grounds, moss, moist forest undergrowth, and twigs. The palate enters on bright cassis notes, quickly turning to prominent medium plus tannin, and medium acid that recalls the entirety of the nose. All in all this is a lovely, complex, maturing wine that is thoroughly enjoyable today, and perhaps might have even opened up more with further air time. I only had one glass at the restaurant. While I might have preferred just a little less of the charred oak character here, and slightly less tannin, the rest of the package is quite lovely. It's possible I'm slightly underrating this. If tasted blind I could see myself thinking old School Napa Cab with the firm structure, ripe fruit and prominent oak, yet still retaining high complexity. Great wine!

June 2, 2022 - Body is light to medium. Clear nose with re fruits and nice acididty. Well balanced and long aftertaste. Not sure age will improve this one. Really good wine but overpriced

January 21, 2022 - A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%) from old franc-de-pied vineyards. Fermented spontaneously, aged for several years in various vessels. 13,5% alcohol.

Deep, dark, moderately opaque and still quite youthful black cherry color. Ripe, dark-toned and very complex nose with layered aromas of dark-toned, blackcurrant-driven dark fruit, some licorice root, a little bit of gamey meat, light spicy notes of cloves and allspice, a brambly hint of black raspberry and a touch of vanilla oak. The wine is silky smooth, juicy and textural on the palate with a medium-to-moderately full body and layered, slightly sauvage flavors of wizened dark plums and ripe dark forest fruits, some balsamic richness, a little bit of pruney or raisiny fruit, light leathery notes of brett, a hint of fresh blackcurrant and a vague touch of cola nut that might or might not be oak. Great sense of structure, thanks to the moderately high acidity and ample, ripe tannins that slowly pile up on the gums. The finish is ripe, moderately grippy and very lengthy with complex flavors of pruney dark fruits and sweet raisiny character, some balsamic notes, a little bit of blackcurrant jam, light funky notes of bretty leather, a hint of savory wood spice and a touch of fresh red plummy fruit.

A beautiful, complex and simply captivating Cretan red that reminds me a lot of Musar, thanks to its succulent, sunny fruit, subtle yet still noticeable funk, balanced structure and just that otherworldly complexity. If you dig Musar reds, it is highly likely this wine will be up your wheelhouse as well. It is drinking wonderfully right now, but I expect it will keep - if not improve - for many years more. Solid value at approx. 45€.
