April 23, 2019 - Big nose of rich orchard fruit with some well-integrated reductive notes. Nose is so generous and deep. Palate isn't quite as impressive as the nose as it's missing some weight for me. Good acidity and freshness.

April 23, 2019 - Dinner at Nico Osteria: This seemed a touch tired - I wondered about premature oxidation when seeing the colour, but it still tastes fairly fresh with pear, citrus, and riper yellow fruited flavours, and a faint toasted hazelnut-like character. There's a faint honeyed/butterscotchy note at the back end that has me wondering about botrytis, but it's a minor element and doesn't detract from the other flavours here. Good acidity beneath, though this doesn't show quite the clarity and focus that I typically expect from Roulot.

April 23, 2019 - Dinner at Nico Osteria (Chicago, IL): This is fairly dark in colour -- which seems to be par for the course for 2006 white Burgundies. The nose doesn't display the classic Roulot reduction (from what I remember that didn't happen until a few years later anyway), but instead you get some stone fruits (a touch of apricot the most dominant here), as well as a slight hint of browning. There's a minor tinge of caramel here as well. The palate, for me, is much fresher, and there is a lot of mineral brightness here. Lovely acidity, with the fruit showing more white on the palate than on the nose.

December 21, 2017 - Small Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Dinner (S.K.Y. Restaurant - Chicago IL): Rich orchard fruit with lots of toasted nuttiness. Clearly rich, but also very nicely balanced for the vintage. Good+ length. good concentration. Probably best to enjoy over the next few years.

October 1, 2017 - Disappointing. Flat with no excitement or energy. Rich, low acid. Not a bad wine but very boring, borderline oxidized (like other bottles of that '06).
