December 20, 2021 - NOish. Used to like this like years and years ago. Now it seems too unsubtle , 14.5 a/c what? This overwhelms the fruit and the tannins follow. Not sure why people make wine like this …

July 12, 2018 - Very closed nose for the first 30 mins. After an hour, there is an elegant bouquet of smoked blackcurrant, sweet red bell peppers, graphite, fresh oregano and fragrant cedar undertone. After two hours, the nose opened even more, hints of fresh lavender, clove and seasoned leather emerged. Very classic and beautiful Coonawarra nose. Palate is still somewhat closed but it echoed the nose. There is this backbone of fresh acidity, nuances of soothing lavender plant, minerals and ripe black fruits in the savoury mid-palate. Overall an elegant and polite personality. More elements are hidden behind the structure for now, although transitions from entry to finish are seamless. Finish is deep and long. Tannins are so polished already for this very young wine. This should be drinking very well in 5 years’ time and will last for another decade there after.

Retasted in Apr 2020, the nose is opened the moment you unscrew the cap with notes largely similar to 1.5 years ago. This time the gravel and pencil shavings notes are more profound, less fruit forward. Palate is no different than before with ripe blackfruit surrounding the mineral, fresh herbs and smoked pepper. Overall balance, depth and fitness are still there. No change in score.
