December 9, 2012 - Excellent Chianti Classico with typical textbook nose and surprisingly soft mouthfeel. Nose was unmistakably Tuscan at a very good stage of evolution with tertiary nuances formed but still lively. Aromas with earthy character are prominent and are complemented with leathery notes, plummy fruit and iodine and ink nuances. Palate is very savory, aromatically similar to the nose and has a surprising softness. Tannins are mellow and fine grained to the point of being a fault. Acidity is also medium yet the wine is elegant and balanced even though structure is quite feminine. Aftertaste is long inky and satisfying.
