September 19, 2023 - PnP. Nose of blackberry, barnyard/manure, and oak. Juicy violet attack unfolds into blackberry, dates, mint, and hint of dried apricot. Strong old oak and smoke leads the finish, with chewy tannins, black fruit, and fruitcake.

August 1, 2023 - The label may resemble Jotunheim, or a frozen Asgard, but the wine is all about ripe fruit with spice, and an earthy undercurrent. Rich but balanced, it never comes across as hot. Dangerously easy to drink.

April 7, 2023 - Started off with a strong buttery popcorn note with everything really tightly wound up. But over the next four hours this wine seriously woke up and started showing the complexity you want to see in a well made Malbec. Wild flowers, fresh baked bread, vanilla. The oak may be a touch strong on this one, that’s perhaps my only knock, but I’m really enjoying the wine. Big fan of the producer having enjoyed their Sangiovese yesterday and now the Malbec. Beautiful labels too!

January 15, 2022 - Fresh and floral on the nose with aromas of molasses, mixed berry compote, pastry crust, violet, rosemary, crushed rocks, and black tea. Satiny and juicy on the palate with excellent cut. The vibrant, peppery finish is energetic and refined. Youthfully compact, I think the wine will show greater length in time. This wine speaks more of Southwestern France than Argentina but with a terrific fruit quality that will make it more accessible early on without compromising its capacity to age (92+).

Edit: A retaste the following day again punctuates how enjoyable it was on the first. This time, dark cocoa covered berries were more readily on the palate, and its overall level of enjoyment was turned up a notch. This one should be fun to drink and follow through its evolution.

January 15, 2022 - Dark, nearly opaque purple color. Berry - earth nose. Opens almost immediately with bright, rich red and black fruits, vanilla, licorice and a touch of white pepper. Day two morphs into entirely black fruited with big, spicy anise notes. Silky finish. Drinks like a quality Paso wine. All in balance. 14.9% alc. Drink or hold.
