High acidity, fresh, elegant and airy fruit and one of the best wines I’ve had in a long time. Wow. And - many years of life left.

August 4, 2021 - beautifully resolved, smooth in the musigny way. Fruit depth is, however, limited and only goes that far before ending in a barky anaethetic way. Corcelotte is doing much better now

The fruit is almost primary, there is purity and a precision here, a bright acidity cutting through. Delicious to drink right now but will certainly keep for years. Will Beaujolais get better than this?

On cherry notes with a hint of orange and spices. Bright acidity, good freshness. Didn’t change much over the course of 2 days, in fact it kept better than the Descombes. Great wine, definitely worth cellaring.

6/15/2008 (link)(Jean Foillard Morgon "Cote de Py) This sucked last time I had it. But Dressner was in last Saturday pouring Beaujolais and it showed much better so I thought I would give it another shot. I am glad I did as this is the wine I remember in February at La Dive Bouteille in Deauville. It was glorious. Lovely pure and unadultertated nose of fresh red fruits, spice and mineral. The palate had lovely acidity, purity and freshness. So easy to drink. Maybe the best showing for this bottle yet. I asked the sommelier to aggressively decant both bottles. The bottle at the Dressnerfest was also decanted so if you decide to drink an 06 Foillard decant that sucker or you might have a mess on your hands.

5/13/2008 (link)(Foillard Morgon "Cote de Py") Was very excited to open this bottle of wine, especially after my joyous experience tasting this ans other Foillard's at the La Dive Bouteille this past February. Well I hope this was bottle shock as this was nary a shadow of itself. Excessively candied fruit, heat, prickly warm tannins and a mediocre structure. Even on day 2 it improved but not enough to make it anywhere but memorable. But my experience with certain Beaujolais vintages, 2004 and 2006 especially, it seems when they land they close down for certain periods of time. It can be 6-8 months, longer or less. Other vintages like 2002 and 2005 came roaring out the gates only to shut down much later. I absolutely adored the wine in Deauville in February so I hope this was a fluke as I really wanted to cellar this wine.

3/12/2008 (link)(Jean Foillard Morgon Cote de Py) Huge fruit on the nose. A vast step up over the regular Morgon. Lots of blueberry on a palate that is deep and juicy. Lots of dirt. Lovely expression of terroir. Sappy and long. Wonderful.
