April 16, 2024 - Deep garnet color. Rich ripe black plum aromas along with a dose of grape jelly. Intensely fruity, almost jammy so I can see why some would feel it is sweet but to me it's loaded with plum and grapey flavors while on the drier side. Certainly bigger bodied and fruitier than previous vintages I've had. Still a very pleasant wine for the price. Enjoying it right now with spicy Indian cuisine and the jammy fruit of the wine pairs very well with the cuisine heat. Medium finish. I'd definitely buy it again.

April 6, 2024 - Local Wine Shop Tasting (My average score for April went way down) (Bloomington, MN): Used to be much better. Sweeter fruits, spices and pepper. Short to medium finish.

April 5, 2024 - Medium garnet colored with high viscosity (15% ABV). The nose has medium intensity aromas of black plum, vanilla, blackberry, game, bramble, dried herbs, baking spice, ripe black cherry and wildflowers. The palate is dry with medium acidity, a full body and medium tannins. This is a rich wine with layers of dark, ripe fruit interlaced with oak nuance, telltale game and some dried herbal notes. It has a medium (-) length finish as far as the fruit goes, but the tannins are super fine and caress my gums for quite a while. This is a $15 Monastrell, aka Mourvèdre that really brings value and gets 91 points from me making it a 5 star effort. Drink till 2029 with steaks or even stews, like the Goulash I am whipping up tonight.

March 31, 2024 - Nose of black currant, blueberry, toasted oats. Moderate silky tannins with moderate acidity. Strong palate of blueberry with dark fruit and peppery finish. Decent length. Wine is too sweet for my palate

96-100: One of the most enjoyable wines I have ever tasted. I would not hesitate to open this wine for any Master of Wine.
91-95: Extremely enjoyable wine that I would drink and buy again. Fantastic to open up for those who appreciate wine.
85-90: Decent to good wine. Weekday bottle you don’t feel guilty about not finishing.
Below 85: would not drink or buy again.
***Price of wine vs. enjoyment (value) is taken into consideration
***I do not provide tasting notes as everyone’s palate is different, and will have a different experience.
