Community Tasting Notes 2

December 1, 2021 - (Mostly) Spätlese dinner at Proxi (Chicago, IL): #12-02, 12% abv. Despite being a Kabinett, this actually seemed like it had more weight than the 1998 Bürgergarten Spätlese trocken. The fruit profile is a little more tart and green, with more white fruit than tropical. I like the complexity and the balance here, even if the alcohol felt a little high in the context of things. Bright and zippy, this could easily pass for a GG in a cooler year too.

May 12, 2012 - Golden with green tint. Med+ intensity on the nose of ripe fruits, tropical notes of pineapple and peach. Petroleum/minerals. Hint of warm spices. Med(+) body, dry, med+ acidity. Medium length. Peaches and lime. Fat mouthfeel with nice fresh acidity. Dries out a bit in the aftertaste. Rich and ripe, the acidity holds well still. I think this has started on a slow decline. Holds very good to be a kabinett, though. Drink up.
