    March 11, 2024 - Hello everyone. I have almost completed my tastings of the 2021 in bottles. There will be no more big surprises (Petrus not tasted). Basically, even if this vintage is not at the level of 2016, 18, 19, 20 and 22. To my taste it is very often superior to 2014 and 2017 in any case. It is very particular with enormous finesse and above all a precision in defining each terroir that is rarely achieved. A school model if you want to introduce your future alcoholic children. And for old people like me :O), the advantage is that it will be drinkable much faster than its elders. Since I'm swamped with work these days, I only put my best notes. For a rating of a particular wine, do not hesitate to write to me;

    1 Lafleur 98-99
    2 Carmes H-B 98
    3 Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Vieux Certan, Margaux, Lafite 97
    4 Montrose, Las Cases, Le Pin 96-97

    And finally the Oscar for best value for money

    Laroque 94-95

    March 9, 2024 - Blackberries, espresso, chocolate, dried flowers, black cherries and spice create the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is even better with its salty-edged red fruits, crushed rocks, spice and espresso with dark chocolate accented profile. Medium/full-bodied, energetic, classic, and classy, this is a vintage of Montrose that will not take decades to develop. Give it 3-4 years and this will be good to go. The wine was made from blending 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Drink from 2028-2055.

    June 23, 2022 - (95-97 vvPunkte) 13.2% Alkohol. 37% der Trauben 2021 gingen in den Grand Vin. Dichtes Rubin. In der Nase super floral, Cassis und Brombeeren, ein Hauch von Veilchen, dazu steinige Noten, kühl und nobel, tiefgründig. Im Gaumen schlank und frisch, das ist super knackig, hat Frische, Würze und eine sehr gute Struktur, die Tannine sind mächtig, halten sich jedoch dezent im Hintergrund, super fein verwoben mit der Frucht, alles in grosser Balance. Im Abgang lang, frisch, rotfruchtig und mit viel Rasse. Wie immer auf sehr hohem Niveau, stilistisch jedoch völlig anders als in den letzten drei heissen Jahren. Kann reifen. 2028-2055+ (Verkostet "En Primeur" im April 2022. Château Montrose) vvWine.ch

    May 20, 2022 - Deep in color, especially for the vintage, you find tobacco leaf, black cherry, pencil shavings, cedar, spice, and dark fruits appearing in the perfume with no effort at all. There is a richness in the palate. The fruit is ripe, fresh, vibrant, and chewy, with lift and energy in the mouth that carries through to the finish. As all fans of Montrose know, the wine more often than not requires decades of age before it is ready to taste, but 2021 is a different beast, allowing you to enjoy it with just a few years before it begins to be fun to taste. The wine was made by blending 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, 13.1% ABV, 3.7. Yields were 38 hectoliters per hectare, with 40% of the harvest going into the Grand Vin. The harvest took place from September 21 to October 6. Drink from 2028-2055. 94-96

    April 27, 2022 - En-Primeur campaign for the 2021 vintage; 4/25/2022-4/29/2022 (Bordeaux): Reticent showing black fruit especially blackcurrant and good quality, oak, clean nose, less obviously acidic that the Dame but still very much in the Medium plus intensity area. Dark hued fruit slides towards the savoury and persist very long. Tannins taste like they’re from oak and grape, sandy textured. All travel long. Simple but wonderfully harmonious
